karl, in mekhon mamre the translation is
The integrity of the upright shall guide them; but the perverseness of the
faithless shall destroy them.
the masoretic points there are consistent with "guide" (TANKHEM),
not with "comfort" (TENAKHEM), as (i believe) is also confirmed
by the entire paragraph.

This is another verse where not only the points as assigned by the Masoretes
appear wrong, but that they also inspired an incorrect ketib/qere pair.
The first half: “the perfection of the upright comforts” which sentence as a
whole serves as the subject of the two participles “bending the ones who
deal underhandedly out of shape, also doing them violence.”
Does thus make sense to you all?
