Karl,
I have many alternative translations (wild guesses) for Isaiah 50:4 on my
site, but here is just one that I think might make sense.
"My L-rd, the L-rd, has given to me a tongue of learned ones. For the
knowledge to pervert with (alef tav) being tired, a word He will arouse in
the morning. In the morning, He will arouse to me an ear to hear like the
learned ones."
This might be meant as a put down of the educated people. Isaiah 5:11
mentions the people staying up late to get drunk and then waking up early to
get drunk also, which would have made them tired. Isaiah 29:10-14 mentions a
spirit of deep sleep being put on prophets and seers, so they would not
understand a vision. Maybe Isaiah will misunderstand the word from tiredness
just like the learned ones, so he will say it and hear it wrong like the
learned ones. I have some other ideas on my site, but I won't put a link to
it because I doubt you or anyone else will answer me for this idea. Feel free
to not answer if you don't like this idea. I understand perfectly.
