Hi, Richard.
I am copying the list on my response in case there are others who can benefit from this information.
I completed my M.Div. at Anderson University School of Theology; and we made some special arrangements for me to study Hebrew with private instruction since the textbooks were not available in accessible format. In the private instruction arrangement, I used alternate texts which were accessible. It is difficult to obtain texts in braille at this point, and my best recommendation is to work with the Logos program using version 3. If you have difficulty getting them to ship you version 3, let me know and I will try to assist you--they are sending visually impaired customers to me for assistance in learning to use the program. It may be possible to work with BibleWorks; but I cannot comment on its usability with JAWS.
For info on setting your computer up to use Hebrew or Greek with JAWS, visit

If you need technical assistance with this (or if you are using Windows 7), please feel free to drop a line for assistance.
I hope that in the future more Hebrew grammars will be available in accessible formats. There are very few transcribers doing biblical languages now, and Jewish Braille Institute is no longer putting out braille. I learned using a copy of Lambdin's text that I had to beg from JBI. I don't know how easily it can still be obtained.

Good afternoon listers,
my name is Richard Watson. I am currently serving a presbyterian
church as a lay pastor in the pcusa.
Over the last year I have found an accredited seminary which will
offer an online m.div degree. As part of this degree, I will need to
take both greek and hebrew.
I am visually impaired and use both a braille display as well as the
jaws screen reader. I am interested in talking to people who use these
kinds of technology for studying both greek and hebrew.
Also what types of texts did you find helpful and how did you access
them if they were in printed form?
Thank you for any advice on thesematters.
rick
