It does not say that Jebusite was the town's former name. It says -
'HaYevusi" - the Jebusite (city), which is Jerusalem.


How likely would be that the name Jerusalem appeared as a Hebraized
allophonic version of Jebusite, the town's former name (Joshua 18:28)?
