Very few Hebrew scholars know yet that they have to support or to oppose Isaac Fried's views. Hebrew scholarship is notoriously sluggish.
The root is the uni-consonantal R for dispersion or aggregation. To see is, indeed, to discern the details.

Also, just a heads up that Isaac Fried’s view is very idiosyncratic. By all means consult his website and evaluate his views for yourself, but please understand that, as far as I know, no Hebrew scholars support his views.
