Doug, any translation is necessarily an interpretation, as is any reading.
Both Gen. 10:25 and 11:1 have "ha'arec", which literally means "the earth"
or "the land". As you write, 11:1 is specifically about the people of the
earth having one tongue. 10:25 simply explains Peleg's name by saying "in
his day the earth was divided". The logical inference is to 11:1-9, but if
you want to think that it refers to some other division of the earth, there
is no way I can prove that it does not.

Yigal thank you very much for your reply , are you saying that you dont see
the hebrew Text , which is translated into most Bibles as saying , "in his
days the earth was divided" , as meaning what is written , are people
actually suggested by text as bing here.

In Gen 11:1 , most bibles have "all the world" , "people of the earth" , etc

, it doe not seem to be as explicit , this is why I needed a Hebrew scholars

instruction as to hwat the verses actuall in hebrew do say .

Are both Gen 11:1 and Gen 10:25 each suggesting the same context of the
earth , there seems no suggestion that people are involved at all in Gen
10:25 but it seems that in Gen 11:1 it is about the people.

is it possible to verbatim translate both verse with direct English words
from their Hebrew counterpart and thus remove doubt as to what was writen ,
rather than what the interpreter "thinks it should mean".
