George and Harold:

I have heard of Anson Rainey, though I doubt I have ever read anything by
him (maybe some quotes in other works), so my question is in part
rhetorical.

Jim Stinehart is a member of the "mainstream" school, in the suborder of
maximalist, possibly could be called über-maximalist, who is using this
forum to push his form of maximalism. He has given no indication that I can
tell that he knows any Hebrew language, nor does he join into any of the
discussions where the language itself is the subject. It is for these
reasons and because of his penchant for long, wordy messages that there have
been repeated calls for his removal from the group, and not just from me.

What this latest message indicates is that what Jim is arguing against is
not the Hebrew text of Tanakh, rather his understanding of a statement by
Mr. Rainey. He even may be misinterpreting Mr. Rainey.

There are other problems with Jim's theories, but I won't get into them
here.

Karl W. Randolph.
