Recently I have found that there are different versions of LXX
(naturally!) when I am going over Gen 11 where the numbers of years
show up different and there is an inserted sentence at the end of the
verse 13.

My question is, when LXX is quoted, is there (shouldn't there be) a
way to tell which version of LXX, rather than simply saying LXX? I do
not have ready resource to tell me.

When I studied the book of Esther, there were two main text-types of
Esther in the LXX, one being the "Lucianic revision" that in the specific
case of the book of Esther probably doesn't represent a revision or
version of the Septuagint so much as it is a translation from a
significantly different Hebrew or Aramaic text (and hence its
importance). I am sure other list members can offer a better
introduction and description of the Septuagint versions.

If you are looking into Gen 1-11, you might find the following book
helpful. I am not sure if it contains Septuagint variants.
