HH: The simplest explanation is that Hebrew was different than English.
Generally Hebrew used the "between" word BYN before both parties, not
just once. That should be obvious from the way the word is used in every
other verse in Genesis before this one: Gen. 3:15; 9:12-13; 9:15; 9:17;
13:8; 16:5; 17:2.
