Dear Peter, from the context of Isa.10:21, 'EL GIBBOR appears as a title of
Yahweh. The "remnant of Jacob" which is what Shear-Jashub means, is
described as returning to 'EL GIBBOR. I think the presence of the direct
object marker in the Hebrew text naturally makes 'EL GIBBOR the object to
which the remnant returns. The surrounding context (Isa.10:20-23) shows that
it is Yahweh who is the one that gathers his remnant and brings them to
himself.
