I take it you are referring to the toponym in Exodus. The place referred to
there is "Pr Ramss Mryimn" (spelled with inly the consonants), the northern
capital and great city built by Ramesses II. So, the name comes from
Ramesses,
himself, which means "Ra fashioned him".
