I've changed the topic as per list rules.

I recently purchased two of the three commentaries on Leviticus by Milgrom
and am starting to work through the first volume. Milgrom seems to favour
a date for the P stratum that is very early by most scholar's standards,
attributing some of it to pre-Davidic times. In particular he appears to
think some of the P sections of Leviticus date from the temple at Shiloh
period.

What do list members think of his arguments?
