George,
A text in Makkot 24b and its virtual duplicate in San 96b may form the basis
for the reference you seek. Both places comment on the actions of Nebuzardan
[military emissary of Nebuchanezzar], and both seek to figure out the
relationship between Zechariah, son of High Priest Yehoyada in the reign of
Yoash, and the later prophet by the same name. As you know, the first
Zechariah was stoned to death in the Temple according to 2 Chronicles 24.21.
