Another interesting twist on Selah is where it occurs in the Psalter.
Selah occurs frequently (67x) in the first 3 Books of the Psalter.
It doesn't occur once in the 4th Book, and in the Fifth Book it only occurs
in 140 and 143, both Psalms of David.

This suggests that Selah was a term that David knew quite well as did those
who lived during the early monarchy. Perhaps the term went out of vogue and
was completely forgotten by the time that translating the Psalter was
undertaken.
