Dear Joe,

The sacrificial animal was "cut" KaRaT into two pieces. Hence "to make a
Covenant" is KaRaT B:RiYT.

The Covenant sanction is "The LORD do so to me and more also if I fail to
keep this Covenant" (Ruth 1:17; 1 Samuel 3:17; 2 Samuel 3:35, 19:13; 1 Kings
2:23; 2 Kings 6:31). Even the Ba`alim and the 'Asheroth were invoked in a
similar manner (1 Kings 19:2; 20:10).

The Covenant Watchword is "What have I to do with thee" MaH LiY WaLaK - or
"we have a covenant, you and I" (1 Kings 17:18; 2 Kings 3:13; 2 Chronicles
35:21). It is also found in the New Testament in Mark 1:24, 5:7; Luke 4:34,
8:28; and John 2:4.
