But surely we can distinguish, in principle, between a hellenistic
composition and a hellenistic update of an older composition to
contemporary grammar. As an analogy, we could now adapt Shakespeare into
modern English, and we do adapt Chaucer, such that your method would
date them 20th-21st century; but no such adapter would presume to say
that they were his or her composition!
