hi there

I'm searching since a little while the general subject of "Freedom and Liberty", not only in the Bible, but now as sub-issue I'm dealing with a very interesting theme: Slavery. Certainly I know the Bibliography and the past week I finish to read a marvellous "Semeia" about "Slavery in Text and Interpretation".

I wish to share with some in the List a personal query: S. Augustine in "Quaestiones in Heptateuchum" 11,77 seems to justify theologically or pseudo-theologically some forms of slavery. Surely I knew the interpretations about , "pro" and "contra" and also I was remembering a thesis of G. Corcoran, an Irish scholar, about S. Augustine and Slavery. I was studente at Rome when Fr. Corcoran defended his thesis.

But perhaps some member of the List'ld share pointsd of view about. The subject deals with biblical texts. And about Patristic texts, do you know if there's some Web Site about?

Sincerely and wishing to the List Members a peaceful week,

Francis J. Weismann,
