Could you Walter explain why you do regard the tradition of the southern Ur
as
being the earlier?

I can hardly figure out how could you present the Judith quote, (as you say
late
2-nd century BC), than perhaps aknowledge its continuity to the later
posttalmudic folclore about Nimrud and Abraham (so also relating to the
southern
Ur)and still wish to enclose the northern Ur tradition inbetween?

Certainly, Ur Kasdim could be a "Verballhornung", popular for an original
Ur-kesh in the Chabur region. The Chabur region could be seen as the kernel
of
Subartu/Chubur, name-giver of the Chabiru? The rabu/Rubenites and the
Banu/Maru-Jamina/Benjaminites are later still roaming the Chabur region.

Could you show any later sources to a northern Ur?

Best regards,
