Right; such degemination (i.e. simplification of a double consonant)
occurs sporadically in various contexts (i.e. not only in Pi``el
forms), in the environment directly preceding vocal _sh@wa_; one
example of this phonological process affecting a Pi``el form is
[hall@luu] (plural imperative "praise!") -> [hal@luu].
