However, note how I Kings looks at Solomon's horse trading. It is never put
in a bad
light. In fact, it is portrayed as one of his illustrious pursuits, along
with temple
building and maritime trade of luxury items. In Deut, horse trading and
returning to Egypt
is strongly forbidden. How do we account for this transition in perspective?
If Deut
portrayed horse trading and going to Egypt as something to be vehemently
avoided, why does
a writer who wants to portray Solomon as one of the great culprits make it
look pretty
good?
