Dave,

the distinction is between scholars including evangelical ones and the
evangelical layperson. IWhen you get the book, I recommended, you will see
that they do not in any serious way defend this part of the exodus
narrative, neither does Kenneth Kitchen who is one of the real spokesmen
(and here I mean '-men-') of the historical exodus. Maybe some laypersons
might look at these as too liberal, but then they will have problems finding
any person classified as a scholar who will go with them. There will be very
few left. So let's turn the question: Is Kitchen a liberal that should not
be followed?
