friends,
kirk lowery alerted me to the recent publication of Syntactic Theory:
A Formal Introduction (1999), available july 1999. i would recommend
the primer for those contemplating advanced work in Biblical Hebrew
syntax. Sag and Wasow are giants in the field. a little pricey though,
see if your library ordered it.
on balance, i would recommend the general unification approach to
syntax over other comers these days. i would guess this will become a
standard textbook for many of the current generation. it is also
compatible with computational approaches to hebrew grammar, and to
easy implementation with Prolog for natural language processing. major
bonuses.
cheers
V
