Except in the case of the Psalms, where he originally prepared a
translation from the Hebrew (the juxta hebraeos) and had to prepare another
from the Greek (the juxta graecae). According to Pierre-Maurice Bogaert
(ABD 6:800-801), he also worked quite a bit from Origen's _Hexapla_ as an
aid to understanding the Hebrew. Hope this helps.
