Sorry Ian -- forgot to address the Kush question.

The well known Kush is in modern Sudan-Ethiopia. The other Kush is
probably in northern Mesopotamia - best know for the Kassites.
There is even possible a third Kush or Kushan, probably having something
to do with Midian. Note, Moses is scolded by his siblings for marrying a
Kushite woman - presumably Midianite Zipporah. Also, Hab 3:7 parallels
Kushan with Midian. II Chr 14:9-15 describes the battle of Zerah the
Kushite with Asa of Judah. This happened in the Negev somewhere. So,
there is a possibility (not a certainty) that we have a third Kush.
