Yep, sure can. By default that directive already passes everything on
after the match. So if you had a request of...
Redirect permanent /foo http://newsite.com/foobar
...and your browser requested...
http://oldsitename/foo/newstuff.html
...server would tell browser to go to...
http://newsite.com/foobar/newstuff.html
Even with a rewrite rule if you tell it to redirect to a new site, it is
NOT transparent. The browser must know this and show it in the address
bar.
