------- Additional Comments From sergey at sourcemage.org 2006-02-14 12:50 -------
I know some of my init scripts never create directories in /var/run so this
would immediately become a problem (I usually code /var/run/* creation in
INSTALL or FINAL). I never realized they should.
At least a cursory audit of spells would be a good idea, to see if they create
/var/run/* during cast. The following is a crude statistic:

find -name INSTALL -or -name FINAL | xargs grep -l '/var/run/.*'
./net/nagios/INSTALL
./net/openntpd/INSTALL
./mail/xmail/INSTALL
./smgl/smgl-fhs/INSTALL
./utils/prngd/INSTALL
./utils/rottlog/INSTALL

Of course this doesn't include spell that create /var/run/something themselves.
