Just a reminder as the CFP deadline draws near:
Walker Percy CFP for SAMLA 91
November 15-17, 2019, Westin Peachtree Plaza, Atlanta, GA
Papers for this session may focus on any aspect of Walker Percy’s life and works, either fiction or non-fiction.
Especially welcome are topics relevant to the SAMLA 91 conference theme: “Languages: Power, Identity, Relationships.” For Percy, the human capacity for language and for naming gives us our identity and is only possible through relationships of intersubjectivity. Percy wrote extensively on language, creating his “radical anthropology” based on his unique semiotic, with these themes pervasive in his novels.
Please send 300-word abstracts (or any questions) by May 15, 2019, to Dr. Karey Perkins, Institute for Studies in Pragmaticism, Texas Tech University, at kareyperkins at gmail.com <mailto:kareyperkins at gmail.com>. Please also include a brief bio and any A/V requirements in your abstract.
