[NAFEX] figs ripe

We've had our first 'Desert King' this past week. Very hot dry weather- perfect for ripening the figs. They are marvelous this year! Birds haven't bothered them yet. The occasional fruit with ants is a different-favored treat. I just eat the ants and all- gives the figs a spicy whang.

>My figs are ripe about two weeks earlier than usual. Must be the excessive heat. The strawberries have aborted their second flush and the elderberries aborted too. Probably too dry. No rain for a month now. I guess I should put some irrigation in for the strawberries. Maybe next year. Last of the grapefruit still holding on.
