[NAFEX] figs ripe

Brunswick is very good. Early Sal's are good when dead ripe, but the birds will eat them sooner. Haven't eaten a dead ripe one yet this year.

        Hey, Bob
When you can beat those "starlings"/ banditos to the fig trees, how's the quality of Brunswick and Sal's "brebas"?
                                             Regards,
                                             Richard Harrison, NW FL

The Breba crops on my Brunswick and Sal's are beginning to ripen here in zone 7b/8a northeast MS. The mocking birds are enjoying them.

                  Kevin,
What variety is your fig? I don't have any fig variety ripe--or near ripe--that I know of. Negronne's "breba" figs are gone. Celeste will be a while yet. Green Greek--can't tell. Conadria---not yet. San Piero---not yet. Marseilles--not yet...............
                                                                         Regards,
                                                                         Richard

My figs are ripe about two weeks earlier than usual. Must be the excessive heat. The strawberries have aborted their second flush and the elderberries aborted too. Probably too dry. No rain for a month now. I guess I should put some irrigation in for the strawberries. Maybe next year. Last of the grapefruit still holding on.
