Captan is also highly susceptible to alkaline hydrolysis.

  Sherwin, I have no suggestions for your residue but I hope you weren't mixing the calcium with Imidan- if so you probably completely neutralized it.  It would also probably mean that you failed to carefully read the label which clearly warns about the problem of excess alkalinity.
