CHARLIE,
A #1 CONNIBEAR TRAP IS USED MAINLY TO CATCH MUSKRATS AND MINK. A INDIAN
TRAPPER BY THAT NAME INVENTED IT MANY YEARS AGO. IT IS BASICALLY TWO 6" SQUARE
STEEL FRAMES MADE OF ROUND STEEL ROD ABOUT THE DIAMETER OF WELDING ROD. HAS A
"V" SHAPED SPRING WITH 2 ROUND EYES ABOUT THE DIA OF A QUARTER. WHEN THE
SPRING IS COMPRESSED, THE 2 FRAMES (WHICH ARE RIVETED ON 2 SIDES IN THE CENTER
REVERSE. A LATCH MECHANISM WITH A PROTRUDING 2 PRONG WIRE CAN BE CENTERED IN
THE MIDDLE OF THE DOUBLE LOOPS. THE ANIMAL PASSES THROUGH, OR CAN BE BAITED.
WHEN THE TRAP IS SPRUNG IT BREAKS THE ANIMAL'S NECK. THESE ARE EFFECTIVE FOR
SQUIRREL RUNWAYS .
