Hi,

I'm doing some research at the Vanderbilt Medical center, and Im
trying to use
freetds/unixODBC to connect to a MS SQL server 2000 database.

I am able to connect, do queries etc using tsql:

tsql -SSIMONDEVEL -U[username] -P[password]

locale is "en_US.UTF-8"
locale charset is "UTF-8"
Msg 5703, Level 0, State 1, Server MRSERV-ON, Line 0
Changed language setting to us_english.
1>

But when I try to use isql, or the unixODBC DataManager, or mxODBC
etc. I get
the following error:

isql -v SIMONDEVEL [username]

[S1000][unixODBC][FreeTDS][SQL Server]Unable to connect to data
source
[ISQL]ERROR: Could not SQLConnect

here is what happens when iI try to access the database using the
mxODBC python module:

>>>db =
mx.ODBC.unixODBC.DriverConnect('DSN=SIMONDEVEL;UID=[username];PWD=[
password]')

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<stdin>", line 1, in ?
mxODBC.OperationalError: ('S1000', 0, '[unixODBC][FreeTDS][SQL
Server]Unable to
connect to data source', 6044)

when I try to access the database through the unixODBC DataManager
it simply says:

[unixODBC][FreeTDS][SQL Server]Unable to connect to data source

TDSDUMPCONFIG gives me the following information when i try to make
a connection
using any of those 3 ways:

Starting log file for FreeTDS 0.62.4
	on 2004-06-16 15:00:35 with debug level 99.

my freetds.conf file:
[global]
	tds version = 8.0

[SIMONDEVEL]
	host = 192.168.1.100
	port = 1433
	tds version = 8.0

my odbc.ini file:
[SIMONDEVEL]
Driver          = TDS
Description = SIMON development server MS SQL 2000
Trace           = No
Server      	= 192.168.1.100
Database        = SIMONPHYS

my odbcinst.ini file:
[TDS]
Description		= v0.62 TDS version 8.0
Driver		= /usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
Setup		= /usr/local/lib/libtdsS.so
FileUsage		= 1

all three are located in /usr/local/etc/, which is where the
environment
variable FREETDS points to.

all the information in ODBCConfig seems to be correct as well.

I would greatly appreciate any help anyone could offer for my
problem.
