Hi James,

thx for your answer.

I've done the following to update freetds:

Script started on Mon Apr 21 20:36:48 2003
[root at linux1 local]# pwd
/usr/local
[root at linux1 local]#  gtar xf freetds-0.61.tar
[root at linux1 local]# cd freetds-0.61
[root at linux1 freetds-0.61]# ./configure --with-tdsver=8.0   --enable-dbmfix
[root at linux1 freetds-0.61]# gmake
[root at linux1 freetds-0.61]# export SYBASE=/usr/local/freetds
[root at linux1 freetds-0.61]# export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$SYBASE/lib
[root at linux1 freetds-0.61]# cat /etc/ld.so.conf
/usr/kerberos/lib
/usr/X11R6/lib
/usr/lib/qt-2.3.1/lib
/usr/local/freetds/lib
[root at linux1 freetds-0.61]# ldconfig
[root at linux1 freetds-0.61]# cd ../php-4.2.0
[root at linux1 php-4.2.0]#
./configure --with-apache=../apache_1.3.22 --enable-trans-sid --with-sybase=
/usr/local/freetds --with-openssl=../openssl-0.9.6 --with-mm=../mm-1.1.3 --e
nable-track-vars
[root at linux1 php-4.2.0]# cd ../apache_1.3.22
[root at linux1 apache_1.3.22]# export SSL_BASE=/usr/local/openssl-0.9.6
[root at linux1 apache_1.3.22]# export EAPI_MM=../mm-1.1.3
[root at linux1 apache_1.3.22]#
./configure --enable-module=ssl --activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a
[root at linux1 apache_1.3.22]# make
[root at linux1 apache_1.3.22]# make certificate
[root at linux1 apache_1.3.22]# cat > ../freetds/etc/freetds.conf
[global]
        tds = 8.0
        host = 195.27.229.142
        port = 1433

[root at linux1 apache_1.3.22]#
[root at linux1 apache_1.3.22]# ../apache/bin/apachectl startssl

I've tested the following php code:

<?
// display_errors is on
// track_errors is on

error_reporting (E_ALL);

/* my tested procedure:
create procedure show_error
as
raiserror ('My Errortext', 18, 1)
*/

$sql = "exec show_error";

$php_errormsg = ''; // just to block: Notice: Undefined variable:
php_errormsg in ....

$conn = mssql_connect(...............) or die ($php_errormsg);

mssql_select_db('tsm') or die ($php_errormsg);

$query_result = mssql_query($sql) or die ("where is the errortext? -
".$php_errormsg);

// here i tested before if the error comes maybe with the resultset... no

?>

But only "where is the errortext? - " comes back.

What can I do? How can I test the freetds update?

Pls. give me an advice.

tia Stefan
