>From reading around this, associating the contributor's name with the code is the whole idea. At the moment, Linus Torvalds just sees the final check-in, which may have come through several people. This associates the name back to whoever is *claiming* they wrote the code. Not as good as the FSFs filed paperwork, but better than the current email fog.
