Six months after a
Shaw company insider told us the cable provider had started using Ellacoya
hardware to throttle Bit Torrent traffic, Ellacoya applauds their relationship
with Shaw via press release. Companies like Ellacoya should see a very profitable
few years, as ISPs look to get a handle on p2p traffic, without having to
resort to those unsightly (and PR damaging) bit caps and termination letters.

The default configuration for the current version includes signatures for
KaZaA,
Gnutella (including Shareaza, Gnucleus, XoloX, Limewire, BearShare,
and
Morpheus), iMesh, Grokster, Blubster, Piolet, IRC, Winny, Filetopia,
and WinMX.
Users can define new signatures (help is available from Ellacoya
support) and new
signatures will be included in new releases.
