1. there is plenty of allusion to jerusalem, the king's harem,
and specifically to the words MELEK and SHLOMO in the song of
songs, to exclude more far-fetched explanations.
HAMELEK BIMSIBO is one unit: the king reclined/sitting etc. the
alternative explanation would leave BIMSIBO out of context.
NIRDI is not NERD, it is MY NERD.
THUS, i read (song 1:) 12-14 as one unit, in which each sentence equates
the king/lover, being in close association WITH the loved one, to a luxury
object. from this perspective, the phrase should be translated as follows:
"the king, consorting WITH ME, being (figuratively speaking) MY
nerd plant/perfume, was (as) refreshing.
