Isaac Fried:
There seems to be no known etymology of carek/samech-resh-kaf at Daniel 6:
2-4, 6-7, meaning "emir": an Eastern minister with an extensive domain of
governance. Carach/samech-resh-het (Exodus 26: 12) literally means "to extend
(even to excess)". The meanings seem somewhat related. Might there be some
relationship between these two words, if the sound of kaf was somewhat similar
to the sound of het in Biblical Hebrew?
Thanks so much for the nice examples you have supplied where kaf may
arguably be semi-interchangeable with het on occasion in Biblical Hebrew. All I was
looking for was a sound similar enough to support a pun in Biblical Hebrew,
not actual interchangeability.
