[b-hebrew] vowel length

i had in mind the preposition אֶל (aleph lamed).

another thing: if the medieval arab grammarians had come up with a way of
representing vowel length
very precisely in the writing, how come this did not bounce off in a region
so small and in contexts of
cultural and scholarly osmosis?
