[B-Greek] Where does the NU in ἡμῖν hHMIN come from?

Sihler § 240 (pp. 232-233) claims that this nu in the pronominal
dative plural is an inherited, optional element.  In support, he
presents an example of a similar phenomenon in Vedic Sanskrit.
