I think you are correct: none are used in the sense of answering a question. However, I certainly want to thank you for providing these citations. Seeing this expression in SOME context is better than nothing at all! 

I am really trying to discover when this "idiom" first started being used, by itself, for an affirmative (assuming it is) answer.
