I have a question on the passage Matt 26:64; it is concerned with the answer Jesus gives the high priest.

26:63 (question)
ο δε ιησους εσιωπα και ο αρχιερευς ειπεν αυτω εξορκιζω σε κατα του
θεου του ζωντος ινα ημιν ειπης ει συ ει ο χριστος ο υιος του θεου
26:64 (Jesus's answer, and no particle is used to begin verse 64!!)

λεγει
αυτω ο ιησους συ ειπας πλην λεγω υμιν απ αρτι οψεσθε τον υιον του
ανθρωπου καθημενον εκ δεξιων της δυναμεως και ερχομενον επι των νεφελων
του ουρανου63 O DE IHSOUS ESIWPA KAI O ARCIEREUS EIPEN AUTW EXORGIZW SE KATA TOU QEOU TOU ZWNTOS INA HMIN EIPHS EI SU EI O CRISTOS O UIOS TOU QEOU
64 LEGEI AUTW O IHSOUS SU EIPAS PLHN LEGW UMIN AP ARTI OYESQE TON UION TOU ANQRWPOU...

The highpriest seems to grow overly impatient and demands an answer from Jesus. When asked if he is the Messiah, the unique son of God, the replied is in some indirect way by stating 'συ ειπας'. How would we understand συ ειπας here? Does the use of πλην shortly thereafter help us determine the contrast between the answer (first clause) and the following clause? In fact, why the use of PLHN here?

What I am looking for are other questions answered with συ ειπας that appears elsewhere in the Bible or in secular writings of that time. Thank you in advance for any help.

Sincerely, C. Q. Machiavelli
