I tend to get these linguists mixed up. Perhaps I have read a paper by
someone else and was attributing it to Levinsohn. My error. Thank you
for the correction.

Another analysis that may be between the two is to see DE
as a +connection+change. (Buth "John's connectors" in Black 1993)
This is not specifically contrast, and allows for digressions as well
as progressions in the the story. Also change of speaker/et al
in dialogs (O DE)
