For what it is worth, my Greek teacher points out that
when the plural is in the comparison, it has a
different sense.

For example, Luke 9:48 has
hO GAR MIKROTEROS EN PASIN hUMIN hUPARCWN hOUTOS ESTIN
MEGAS

Here, it’s not "the least among you all... is
greatest" (so Wallace and others), but anyone who is
MIKROTEROS is great (not "the greatest"). The idea is
not that the position of MIKROTEROS will be occupied
by ONE individual, but any individual who seeks such a
position.

I’m not sure how that relates to Matt 13, but I
noticed a plural in the comparison.
