Subject: [PAPY] A New K-12 on-line resource
Dear colleagues and friends:
I am very glad to announce the appearance of a new K-12 on-line resource (it can easily be used as an introduction also for beginning undergraduate students) on education in Graeco-Roman Egypt. This page complements "Writing the Papyri" and "Reading the Papyri" which can be found under "Exhibits and Events."
This segment was produced with the collaboration of Dr. Björn Anderson (former IPCAA student), Philip Deloria (graduate student at the School of Information), and Terry Szymanski (graduate student in Linguistics)--both former Classical Studies undergraduate students. Funding for this project was made possible through a grant from the "Center for Research on Learning and Teaching" (CRLT) at the University of Michigan. Thank you all!
Several of the new pages involve "Flash" technology which allows the broadcasting of sound and animation. Look out for those pages! You will hear some familiar voices reading excerpts of ancient texts in Erasmian and modern Greek pronunciation.
You can find the page either by going to our main portal at: www.lib.umich.edu/pap (the click the link at the top left) or by going directly to http://www.lib.umich.edu/pap/k12/education/home.htm
Please, feel free to forward this message also to other lists.
Enjoy the new pages.
