conditional imperative? Jn 15:4

MEINATE EN EMOI, KAGW EN hUMIV.

The NRSV and the NIV seem to translate this verse differently.

NRSV "Abide in me as I abide in you."
NIV "Remain in me and I will remain in you."

Is there a grammatical preference between the two renderings? Is there
another possible rendering that might be more preferred?

Might the subsequent 3rd class conditional sentences lend support for the
verse to be understood as a conditional imperative?

Thanks,
