I'd like to 2nd what Ted wrote and urge you to not give up on the list quite yet.
Similar to yourself, I have been teaching myself Greek over the past few years.
While I don't participate as frequently as others, I have found the participants here
very helpful and courteous when replying to my questions. This is the best place I
know to find answers once I have searched all my reference works and I am still
unclear on something. Yes, there are discussions on more advanced aspects of the
language, but I think that reflects the varied knowledge and interests among list
participants. However, if you are serious about learning Greek (and it certainly
sounds like you are if you've started Mounce), I think there are plenty of
'beginning' and 'intermediate' students, as well as teachers, who would be more than
willing to help. The best thing I've found is to jump in and not be afraid to make
mistakes. Welcome.
