PROSTIQNMI

In Luke 17.5, PROSQES is translated generally as increase. Might it not
better be translated as "unite or put" faith near to us, with an emphasis not
on increasing existing faith, but rather on gaining access and intimacy to
that faith which the disciples have seen in Christ.

The mustard seed simile then might become a comparison on growth as in the
mustard seed parables, rather than a comparison on how much power is in even
so small amount.

It may even be that the request of the disciples is misdirected if they are
asking Jesus to bring faith near to them. Perhaps their mistaken request
might be the cause for the hyperbole of uprooting trees.

Anyway, not getting into interpretation, is there a reason to translate
PROSTIQNMI as "increase" rather than as "bring or put near?"
