FREE JAZZ ALTOISTS on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday 9 p.m.-midnight
This week's installment of the Thursday Night Feature focuses on free jazz
alto saxophone players. The traditional heroes of free jazz are usually
tenor players like Coltrane and Ayler; this show will shine the light on
all of the talented alto players who have not garnered as much attention
as they deserve over the years. The show will highlight the important
innovators on the instrument, as well as underrecognized players like
Sonny Simmons and Mike Osborne.

A discussion of timely topics with BILL on Northern Hemisphere Live,
Sunday 5-7 pm.
This Sunday NHL's Bill Burton will host an open show with sundry topics
relating to the current events of the day. Listeners are invited to call
in and participate.

COREY PARKER on the Backyard BBQ, Sunday 7 p.m.
A special tasty BBQ treat! This week Corey Parker and his band will
perform live and discuss his debut CD, "Subliminal Souls," and other
timely topics. As the son of Maceo Parker (Maceo's sax-brilliance was
recognized early with James Brown), Corey has had the enviable experience
growing up surrounded by stellar musicians. His music reflects the many
influences in his life and displays the diversity that WXYC listeners
especially love. Expect to hear CP move through hip-hop, r&b, salsa, rap,
rock, funk, jazz -- some blended in a single tune; others, straight, no
chaser.

-THE INSIDE TRACK: a new release played in full Monday, Wednesday and
Friday, 9 p.m.

Sunday 10 a.m.-1 p.m
