i just got this email from helen "mccookerybook" reddington of the chefs...

<<The Chefs/Helen and the Horns CD will be out in the new year- I am just
trying
to sort out a UK distributor. The name of the record company is Near Shore
records.>>

im not sure that the chefs have been mentioned on this list, but they should
be. they put some songs in the very early 80s on brighton's attrix label. the
chefs were a little poppier than most of the releases on the primarily punk
attrix, having simple catchy melodies and girl-boy duets. the lyrics are super
sweet but they also have an STD song, its good fun. they did 2 peel sessions
and i think 2 7"s and that was it? perhaps someone has more info? in any case,
their stuff is sooo hard to find, but its being rereleased now, i guess by
helen herself. i tracked her down cause i was really curious as to what she
was
up to now- shes all fancy music academic.
