I’ve been asked to advise on a project in the subtropics of China, not far
from Hong Kong. It will be high density high-rise residential to maximise
ground-level green space plus low-rise commercial ‘village centre’ buildings
with rooftop gardens. Complex will house 20,000 and include a kindergarten
and aged housing. Stormwater will go into an artificial lake with aquatic
plants and animals. The design team are coming to Australia to do a PDC then
have asked me to facilitate a 5-day design workshop on ideas for the project.

I’m searching for examples of eco-design solutions that have been implemented
successfully in high-rise design, including features such as rainwater
harvest, grey water treatment and recycling, passive solar and bioclimatic
design strategies, working natural swimming pools etc

Please let me know of any examples you know of and if you know any
architects, engineers or planners who have experience in eco-solutions for
this kind of urban development.

The developer is genuinely trying to create workable alternatives to the
concrete jungle paradigm and bring some nature back into the city environment.

cheers

Robyn
